The 44-year-old cut an elegant figure when she arrived on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala in New York, accompanied by the designer Tom Ford.
But as she gathered up the hem of her pale pink evening gown to negotiate the steps, she unwittingly flashed her flesh-coloured underwear at the assembled photographers.
